A little Hokey Pokey

A Little Hokey Pokey Getting Lucky at SpeakEasy With God, all things are possible. This I know for sure. I am most certain of this truth when I stand before our community on Sunday morning. Looking at the growth, the organization and the care that is happening at SpeakEasy, I am amazed. I know I had little to do with this, except that I said “yes” when every cell of my being wanted to say “no”. A few years back, I was facilitating a vision board workshop for a small group in my old “treehouse” office in Western Springs. At Read the full article…

Believing in the inherent goodness

Last night my iphone got stolen. I was going shopping for my Grammy outfit, had the kids, very distracted, left my phone plugged into the charger on the front seat, didn’t lock the car. Sometime later, done shopping and out to dinner, I noticed it was missing, tried to locate it using the find my phone app on Rachel’s phone and it was offline, confirming it had been swiped. After very quickly going through the stages of grief, I decided to accept that I could live without my phone, even though I am traveling to LA today for a big Read the full article…

Inside the Chrysalis, imagining flight.

When she was born, the midwife said, “reach down and grab your baby.” I did as instructed. This was my fourth birth, I knew what to expect and was not put off by the clamming, wet, clump of flesh that was making it’s entrance. I reached for her, held her to the light, and brought her to my chest. “It’s a girl”, whispered the midwife. My mind went a little sideway. A  girl? No, not possible. I was having a boy. I had only picked a boy name, Calvin. This baby was a boy I was sure of it, and Read the full article…

A Practitioner is person who takes the courses and does the required inner and outer spiritual work to become licensed.   The Centers for Spiritual Living defines Read the full article…

U complete US

Looking down at a collection of stones I am mesmerized by their synergy. When I pick one up to examine it closer, it’s doesn’t seem all that  spectacular, but in the presence of the other stones, it’s beauty is magnified. That’s the magic of intimacy, community and showing up. Activating your warrior energy is all about showing up and choosing to be present. As simple as that sounds, it’s not always easy. There are the voices in our heads running a racket. Why show up? Who is going to miss you? What contribution do you really have to make? In today’s Read the full article…

Affirmative Prayer

My very first job as a spiritual practitioner was working for the World Ministry of Prayer. I would sit in my home in California and for my six-hour shift, three times a week, the phone would ring and I would pray with people from all over the word. As you know I have four kids and they were not always down with my new job. Mom, are you on the God phone again?    Hello. World Ministry of Prayer, I would say, trying to sound helpful and holy. On the other side of the line was a person in pain. Read the full article…

Lessons From A Spider

“you need not do anything. Remain sitting at your table and listen. You need not even listen, just wait. You need not even wait, just learn to be quiet, still and solitary. And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked. It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.” – Franz Kafka. I am not great with numbers, ask anyone. I tend to mess up dates, times, page numbers, and even just last week I bounced a check. I had the money there, but I just didn’t pay attention. However, my God has a great Read the full article…
